Medicare Supplements literally “supplement” your Original Medicare coverage by providing coverage for costs that Original Medicare doesn’t cover.
There are 10 different Medicare Supplement plans available in 47 states—A, B, C, D, F, G, K, L, M, and N. Each plan will provide a specific level of coverage for these costs:
- Part A Coinsurance & Hospital Costs
- Part B Coinsurance/Copayment
- First 3 Pints of Blood for Transfusions
- Part A Hospice Care Coinsurance/Copayment
- Skilled Nursing Care Facility Coinsurance
- Part A Deductible
- Part B Deductible
- Part B Excess Charges
- 80% of Foreign Travel Emergency Care
*Plans F & G offer a high deductible plan in some states.
**Plans K & L show how much they’ll pay for approved services before you meet your out-of-pocket yearly limit, (K=$6,940 in 2023 and L = $3,470 in 2023), Part B deductible. After you meet them, the plan will pay 100% for approved services.
***Plan N pays 100% of the costs of Part B services, except for copayments for some office visits and some emergency room visits.
